Jonas’ Julekort is a charity organization that arranges an exhibition each year in December, where artworks made by hundreds of different contributors are exhibited and sold. Every year the profits are donated to a new place chosen by the organization. The first exhibition was held in December 2013 and it supported Mændenes Hjem, Copenhagen. This year the organization has chosen to donate the profits to Reden, Copenhagen.
The exhibition takes place in Atelier September in Gothersgade 30, Copenhagen. This year the exhibition will be open from Friday the 5th of December at 4 pm and it will be open until December the 13th (Open: Monday – Friday from 12-5 pm and Saturday & Sunday from 12-3 pm).
Artists, architects, illustrators, designers, writers etc. each create an artwork, which will be sold for 500 Danish Kroner. The artist’s signature is signed on the inside of the folded paper sent by us and all artworks will be sealed, so that the sale will happen anonymously. It will be possible to see, who the creator of each artwork is at the end of the exhibition, when the buyers collect the artworks. Each artist only creates one artwork. “Christmas” is not a theme the artists have to stick to; Christmas is just the occasion for the charity project.
Our goal is to include a great group of people – talented painters, architects, writers, illustrators and art students. All the names will be published before the opening. The organization only exhibit and sell original artworks – nothing is printed.
The organization is founded by and consists of Frederik Bille Brahe, Mads Nørgaard and Jonas Trampedach and the project is inspired by RCA’s yearly project RCA Secret in London. The artworks not sold will be returned to the artist or destroyed depending on what each artist prefers. Everyone is welcome at the exhibition.
